Frequently Asked Questions

  • A birth doula is a non-medical support person who supports pregnancy, birth, and the immediate postpartum period. Birth doulas have training on both medical and non-medical coping techniques, physiologic birth, common pregnancy challenges, early infant feeding, and more.

  • A postpartum doula is a non-medical support person who helps in the postpartum period, for as long as needed. Postpartum doulas are all trained in what to expect in the fourth trimester, infant feeding, hygiene, and postpartum recovery. Many postpartum doulas have additional training in infant sleep, introducing solids, baby wearing, and more.

  • Our doulas support all birth - from unmedicated home birth to scheduled caesareans. We help guide you through your pregnancy and birth without judgement, bias, or an agenda. Your body, your birth, your way.

  • Our doulas will always support your feeding choices. The first rule is always “feed the baby!” If you are planning to bottle-feed, our doulas can help you to choose the best bottles and cleaning equipment, as well as help you create routines that support your feeding plan.

  • Yes! Overnight support for nursing parents is still beneficial for everyone. Our doulas will help you to maximize your sleep by helping make feeds efficient and then taking care of the burping, diaper changes, and soothing back to sleep. You’ll only need to be awake for the feeds, everything else is taken care of.

  • Our doulas are interviewed and vetted by our management team. Each has a background check done annually in training and certification. Our doulas are also up-to-date with the First Aid/CPR and carry liability insurance. Many of our doulas have additional training in specific areas such as infant feeding, lactation support, childbirth education, and more.
